Projects
|
DIP ( Deuromedia Infotainment Platform ) at Deuromedia
From Ianuary 2006. On going.
| | Role : Senior Software Engineer / Team Leader
|
- An on going project that was already in production, in hospitality environments.
- Implement support for a Client side Box. It replaced an existing compiled application with a web application, due the Box was changed from a mid-end box to a low-end box. Runs on Opera Embedded browser on Amino's Linux Box.
- I brougth many ideas that improved performace and load at server side.
- I wrote integration application with existing PMS running on hotels. They were implemented as UNIX daemons.
- To rise performance and stability, I implemented a server side daemon that push data to the clients, instead pulling data from the server, as it was before. I implemented another daemon at client side to work with it.
- Involved in all parts of project : Database, Web Server Side, Management Server, Client Side : Daemons, Application, Devices ( TV Sets and Remotes ).
- Technologies : Linux, MySQL, HTTP, TCP/IP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, XSLT, DOM, C, C++, FIAS.
| |
| DBP ( Data Broadcasting Platform ) at Deuromedia
From August 2003 until December 2005.
| | Role : Senior Software Engineer
|
- An on going project that was already in production, it is Deuromedia'a core product.
- Even if it was preluated for "maintenance" purposes, I intoduced many things that aimed to bring better performance, stabillity and extensibility.
- I replaced 20 windows services by an unique plugginable service. All functions of those services were replaced by plugins.
- I extended DBP's functionallity with support for DSM-CC (Direct Storage Media - Command and Control )
- Technologies : C++, SQL, COM, DRM, MFC, .NET.
- Tools : Visual Studio.
- Installer Kits and Tools for Services, Database and Web Server, with MFC, C#, scripts.
- Due to my knowledge in complementar technollogies I brought great ideas and improvements into some sensitive components of our product, such as Bandwidth Monitor (a dear Java applet, which I replaced with VML, XML, XSLT and scripts), DRM subsystem (an old and unstable component used by us over Microsoft's DRM), a Licensing schema and many others, improvement of database processing, data transmissions and many other.
| |
| Platform@WEB at Deuromedia
From December 2001 until August 2003.
| | Role : Senior Software Engineer
|
- Part of DBP ( see upper )
- I designed and developed tools for Service Providers, Content Providers and Clients, with the latest technologies and standards used world wide: HTML 4.01, CSS 2.0, XML 1.0, XSLT 1.0, Microsoft's VML, SQL, COM, ASP and DRM.
- I brought great ideas and improvements into some sensitive components such as Bandwidth Monitor (a dear Java applet, which I replaced with VML, XML, XSLT and scripts) used in two applications, I completely redesigned and replaiced an old managing tool (a Win32 Application) with a "WEB style" application.
- All applications support localization brought by resources onto the server side. So far English and Chinese is supported.
| |
| Platform over the WEB at Deuromedia
From Mai 2001 until December 2001.
| | Scope: SQL database interrogation and presentation over the WEB via both Server side scripts and Client side scripts
| | Role : Senior Software Engineer
|
- Part of DBP ( see upper ). Replaced later by Platform@WEB ( see upper )
- SRL (Structured Report Language - in-house development), CGI/ISAPI - on server side
- HTML (conform with 4.0 standard - validated), CSS2 (validated), JavaScript for Internet Explorer
- Multilanguage support by server side scripts and using HTTP client request
| |
| |

Additional Experience / Employment
|
| Laboratory: Computer Networks and Data Transmission
|
- This is temporary collaboration with the University. Between October 2001 until February 2002, and from October 2002 until February 2003, and from October 2008, until February 2009.
- I supported this laboratory in the Electronics and Computers Department, Electrotechnics Faculty, "TRANSILVANIA" University Brasov, Romania, as a collaborator
- As part of this laboratory I teached the 5th year (last) students of Electronics and Computers Department about OSI / TCP/IP standards, Client / Server Applications implemented using Inter Process Communication technology (anonymous and named pipes, shared memory), POSIX Threads and UNIX / BSD Sockets
- The laboratory used Linux as development platform.
- My plans were to introduce students into Windows NT Server Platform too, by presenting them the Windows environment from the administrator's side, by providing information about designing a network using Windows technology, NT domain, and NT Services: Domain Controllers, WINS, DHCP, DNS, file, print and IIS Servers, implementing security schemas, supporting users and groups.
- Of course, all classes staied close to the operating system, security issues, administrator's / programmer's / hacker's / cracker's point of view, trying to explain all issues that appear in all places of the network.
- Hands on activity were appreciated by all of my students.
